“Frederiksberg, Mathildevej – og vejen hjem”
A Visual Narrative by A. Breiner
A. Breiner’s latest series of works takes its starting point in the Frederiksberg district of Copenhagen, more specifically, Mathildevej, and unfolds as both a concrete and dreamlike mapping of the local area. The paintings combine the sweeping overview of a bird’s-eye perspective with the street’s intimate details, creating a narrative in which recognizable buildings and roads meet surreal distortions and poetic shifts. Through black-and-white brushwork and carefully chosen accents of color, everyday urban landscapes are transformed into spaces of reflection, where reality and imagination intersect. The series presents both the familiar and the skewed: streetlights, apartment blocks, churches, and quiet residential roads are mixed with humorous displacements and symbolism hints.
“Frederiksberg, Mathildevej - og vejen hjem” is not only about geography, but about belonging. About living, about finding one’s place, about orientation. It is an artistic exploration of what “home” means in a modern city, and how we remember places not as precise maps, but as emotionally charged stories.
The works will soon be available both in large-scale original format and as fine art prints and are part of an upcoming locally anchored outreach and exhibition project
